BWB - How It Works

It's exciting to realize that Grand County Businesses Without Borders is well in to it's 5th year of existence. We believe that part of our success, other than the fact that there are no fees or dues, has been our ability to keep our meetings to an hour and to accomplish a maximum amount of networking during that timeframe.

It's only fair that we provide our host and sponsors a few minutes to talk about their business and then give everyone else 30 seconds to introduce themselves. In this 30-seconds you should state your name, your business name and location, then give a quick description of your business and the product or service you provide. This 30-second introduction is what we call your "elevator speech". This speech is very important in any networking situation and for events such as the Networking Extravaganza on May 20.

There's time after the formal meeting to chat or get contact information for those you need to chat with.

We hope this helps to understand the GCBWB format and the reason behind some of our methods!

If you'd like to host a meeting at your business, please contact us at info@gcbwb.com.

Preparing for the "Speed Networking" Event May 20
Maximize Your Networking Skill With Your Own 30-Second Commercial!

The opportunity to network happens to most business owners all of the time! But many of us don't know how to maximize that opportunity when someone asks, "What business are you in?" Be ready to answer with your own personal 30-second commercial.

Since people form impressions of others within the first 20 to 30 seconds, it is crucial that you prepare your 30-second commercial so that it will be effective for you and your business. The attached worksheet will help you plan your 30-second commercial. Read it aloud and time yourself. Practice your 30-second commercial until you can say it without referring to your worksheet. Your talk will gain power if you stand. Practice on two or three people, making solid eye contact as you speak.

Five Easy Steps to the Perfect 30-Second Commercial
Your 30-second commercial should include the following:
1.Your name and business name.
2.Your business location.
3.The type of business you are in.
4.The cost of products or services.
5.The type of people or businesses that are good prospects for you. Include places, people, key phrases and situations that produce leads, such as: Businesses moving to a new location; unhappy with present service; unaware of information available; interest in travel, self improvement, etc.

SPONSORS ARE NEEDED

Tulip Sponsorship - $100
Daffodil Sponrship - $50

Email us at info@gcbwb.com if you are interested in a sponsorship!
